The SPI (Standardized Precipitation Index) is used to quantify the deficit/excess rainfall on multiple time scales. It has been very useful in monitoring of precipitation, mainly because of its flexibility, simplicity of calculation and interpretation. Then, we were determined homogeneous regions of the SPI in the range of three months in the state of Pará, through the Principal Components Factor analysis (PCA) and Cluster. For this we used monthly data from 72 raingauge stations distributed in the state. Applying a hierarchical cluster analysis at 18 common factors spatial SPI-3, which explains 70% of the total variation of the data, using the method of minimum variance proposed by Ward in 1963. The results showed three homogeneous regions (Rh) of the SPI-3, they are: Rh-1 (coastal), Rh-2 (central / north-northwest) and Rh-3 (South). We were chosen randomly within each station Rh to discuss the main features of the SPI-3. The city of Castanhal represented the Rh-1 was classified with 26 events dry and 21 rain, the Rh-2, represented by the city of Uruará presented 19 events dry and 29 events rain and finally the city Barreira do Campo represented the Rh-3, we observed that homogeneous region 19 events dry and 32 events rain. The methodology showed that for the coastal region events occurred drier than rain. While for Rh-2 and Rh-3, which occupies the central / north-northwest and south of the state, identified more rainfall events but with little persistent. This might be related influences of different meteorological phenomena large and small scale that acting in different homogeneous regions of the state, as the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), Zone of the South Atlantic Convergence (SACZ), Squall Lines, Effect of Sea Breeze, site convection, among others. |
